One of the advantages of living in Chanakyapuri is the proximity of Nehru park. Whenever the urge hits, I don my keds and head out for the cool greens of the park. Not to mention, the sights are soothing for the eyes.
Coincidentally, I was trailing behind one such sight the day before last evening. Six feet tall ( maybe a little too tall), muscular shoulders, a taut bottom and athletic legs. He had appeared suddenly from behind and I had missed a chance of catching the face. I love these atheltic types. Anyway, they are a rare species, unless its a defence officer ( I am biased). Hmmm, inspiration is never quite lacking when taking walks in a apark :). So, here I was, in complete Mills and Boons style imagining the angular cut of the face, a well defined jaw, dark pools in which one could drown ( borrowed line from one of the many MBs) and a smile to die for. Lost in my reverie, with a smile plastered to my face, I hardly noticed we had reached the end of the round. I was only two steps behind this thing when he turned…
………A goatee beard that hadn’t quite made up its mind about growing, gawky braced teeth and bushy eyebrows turned to look at me, and then with a smile, most unlike what I had imagined, he says ” Goad Avening” . No jokes here. THUD, reminiscent of Ekta Kapoor pauses for effect, I had fallen to Earth. The beauty had turned beast. The man was an overgrown boy! Didn’t help that I had had no time to erase the grin from my face.
I nooded saintly and walked away..
